Getting people to talk
Sometimes you have to spark the right conversation in a party to get people to talk. And sometimes you have to build a social application to get millions to talk. I'm glad I had a chance to do both this week.
We just launched orkut + Google Talk. I wrote up about it on the Google Blog and the Google Talk Blog. It was a fun project.
Here is a personal story about orkut. I grew up in four different countries so it was usually hard for me to keep in touch with childhood friends. A couple of years ago I found an orkut community for my elementry school and found an old friend from 3rd grade!

I hate Google's login system. First, if you login in to one site, it will automatically login you everywhere, e.g. Google search. Second, It let (even encourage) you (to) have separate accounts for each site and then they merge them without an option for two separate accounts to merge.
I really like the orkut option in Google Talk however, I was wondering do you by chance know how one might go about changing their Google Talk name? Right now, my name in Talk is my User Name, as my User name is not my first name it annoys me to chat. So if you have any information on this that might help please send it my way, thanks. I know that A New Tool That Google Has "Research Google" found it's way to this posting. The only thing that showed up on the keyword search 'os9user' , a tip ?? Love to know why just your blog ?
